Title: Happy New Kirat Year Yele 5068

Dear All,
Information below says that Kirats Year, Yele 5068 which started commemorating the brave Kirat king Yalamba who rule more 5067 years ago in central Nepal. New year starts celebrating Maghi or Maghe Sankranti as the starting of the Yele New Year.

Moreover, a newar scholar Mr Amrit Ratna Tuladhar mentions based on the ancient Nepali history "Kirat kings ruled the Nepal valley including the old city of Patan and established Lalitpur, the City of Fine Arts. During his time the petty kingdom was known as Yala, a nomenclature presented or given in praise of the Kirat king. Yalambar founded Yala --- a logic discovery after all. However the term of "Yala" has today entered the Nepal Bhasa (Newari) vocabulary referred to or addressing the city nestled in the southern part of Nepal Valley".

Different kirats subgroups celebrate this new year season in different names such Loshar etc. A subgroup of Kirats living in the Tarai, Tharu community also traditionally celebrate Magi or Maghe Sangkranti. It seems that we need to formally celebrate this new year event more energetically and enthusiastically now onwards.

Thank you all and Happy New Year 5068. I wish you and your family for the good health, happiness, peace and prosperity!-----Dr-Uncle Kirati------
