Title: Priorities for Kiratis

There are 100s of things to be done for Kirati communities. The best way to start would be by prioritising,

The priorities should be(in order of importance):

1.Eradicate drug problems(drugs damage your brain directly),many crimes are committed for drugs;many addicted women sell themselves to be able to buy drugs.

2.No to excessive alcohol (damages brain, liver;damages family and friendships). Many abuses occur in the families where alcohol is excessively used.when pregnant mothers drink fetus' brain is damaged.

3.Save your family.

4.Education,Education and Education.

5.No and No to violence. No violence at home,on the streets, nowhere.

6.Unity,Unity and UNITY.For this you need to learn to respect others, and listen to others who are more qualified, learned and wiser.

7.Ask for Reservation / Quota for higher education especially technical seats e.g.MBBS,BE,MD,ME etc.,section officer, second leiutenat, police inspector, forest officer posts.Reservation must be specifically ring fenced for kiratis and other backward indigenous communities(Newars must not have their seats as they are advanced janajati)

8.Learn business,industry and politics.

9.In the name of being modern,do not copy bad things from western culture, learn good things from western culture .

10.Never forget your roots, your culture, your place and country.

11.Learn to be civilised.Do not make enemies, make friends.(we are very good at making enemies, because of our hypersensitivity and tendency to misperceive others) ...

Thank you guys

Thanks very much for your comments.I found Narahang brother's and Kirat ji's comments particularly thought provoking.

I truly believe in pluralism, and respect others' viewpoints. We all seem to agree on one thing,we can not accept status quo,and we want change for better.

We may not, however, agree with the way we would like to achieve it.

Personally,I would stick to peaceful way.It may take longer, but we will get there.Evolution is always humane and longer lasting than revolution.

It is easy to incite people into violence, especially if you and your family are safe and secure, but it would be extremely irresponsible not to think of so many(including elderly, women and children) who could be victims of any bloodshed / violence.

ALSO,there is no guarantee that bloodshed would mean victory.I do not think there would be any support from any power.

On the other hand,if we followed a peaceful path world would support us because we are asking for justice.Even honest and justice loving chuchches would be on our side.

Violence might earn somebody some short term gain, but in the long run it will not help.

lets keep on going....

Date Friday, February 8th 2008, 12:59 AM

so far i have participated in many discussion and i m really impressed with our people who are more aware then wat other thinks but its just the lack of togetherness or the form of formal organistion where we can come together and make a move for our poeple. now i can see many more people are coming and raising very vital issues that is in our society.
for myself i can say that i m not a good writer and honestly dont have good vocabulary though i feel im kirat and trying my best to share my views no matter how it looks. hopefully all of u will appriciate it.
thankx to all for giving ur time and valuable informations that i dint have so far. well is there any thing that can bring us together and we can form up formal forum?..any chances....coz we know eachothers views and either way it is similar....though there is differences in how the revolution should go....hummmm
thank you

Freedom - Liberty - Rights

Date Thursday, February 7th 2008, 11:33 PM

I like this gusty discussion. I thought I'd be more useful as a listener than another unqualified meddler of a good potential productive debate. Actually, I was heeding the advice of this guru who told me to listen more and talk less. Besides, I'm learning a lot from you. I like what you've to say here. There are many things to do and so many things to talk about. You guys are doing these things so well. I see in you the young awaken generation who have the knowledge, the desire, the enthusiasm and the will. You've learned more, know more, want more and can do more. I can distinctly see a light at the end of the tunnel for Kirats. It is not just a hope. It is a dream. And if we dream together it'll become a reality.

I particularly like saathi Menuka's stance and her points of argument. There are times when pessivity will not work. This is the main reason Buddhism lost in India after Asoka.

If I must say something with regard to this discussion than it is just this much.
I hate fightings and bloodsheds. But I hate even more to be treated like dirt and trampled on. Freedom, liberty and Rights are not always given in a platter. These things do not come cheap. Asking for them will not often do. One must be prepared to go beyond just asking and hoping. We'll not cast the first stone but at the same time will not sit quiet when we are insulted and trampled on.

This thought and statement must be made known and conveyed to the gang at Kathmandu clearly and without the slightest of doubt. If the crooks at Kathmandu think they can hoodwink us all the time than they are in for a big surprise.

Thanks for the nudge saathi Tagera.

I would like to invite saathi TheKirat if you could find time to read my blog titled Maoist Movement - Systems Changes - Going Abroad/Lahure Traditions - Kiratis Future - Mr. Carter's….to get my feelings on these matters. This is one article related to all the subjects and not separate articles for each subject. The blog should take less than ten minutes to read.

Great discussion. Good job. Thanks.

Peace is good when corrupt and crooks people

Date Thursday, February 7th 2008, 11:04 AM

Peace is good when corrupt and crooks people gave-up their governmental and political power in nation.

But it is not reality.. we never ever see that crooks, corrupted and dictetors gave-up their army, government and political power as well as position.

Only we see after people movement or Freedom fighters or Revolution happen in that particular nation. Then new changes followed by struggle and pain.

Do you think Rana Regime gave up power because somebody request sweetly?

Do you think King Gaynendra and Paras gave up power because somebody request Narayan Hiti Palace and royal chair?

Let's think? You missed the key points..

What are we looking for? Bllod or Peace

Date Thursday, February 7th 2008, 2:29 AM

Seware to Menukaji and Sangeetaji I appreciate your view. Once I thought only revolution can bring change. I was aggressive about my thoughts. But we must not show that character for which we are known "risaha ra aati". I think we are straightforward in our thoughts but the world of today works the other way,so we must learn lots of thing from the fights that re going in different countries. Like in India there are still Maoists, Naxalits and terrosrist. They are the by product of revolution that will never finish. What about the long war ongoing between LITTE and Srilank government? Many have lost their lives, I think we should not be blood thirsty but have to act according to situation. We have seen the situation of our own country during the Maoist and Government war that was very miserable. Do we want to be created as by product or be a respective citizen the question lies there? This is more clearly explained by Dr- Uncle in his recent blog please read that too.
We can see lots of UN cars running in the roads of kathmandu with lots of diplomats and they are large in numbers. They are here for their own benifit and the government and Maoist are helping them we have to stop that not ignit that. If we keep on fighting they will be more until our country situation is like one of the countries of Africa like Ruwanda, Kenya, Nigerai so we have to learn from others mistake and learn.
Thank you I don't want to cross others point but I want to pinpoint our back drops......

Yes, I truly agree with menuka

Date Wednesday, February 6th 2008, 9:25 PM

Yes, I truly agree with menuka view, too.

It is true and reality " Freedom, Democracy, Victory and Success never ever Free.. It cost many time, effort, life and physical fights."

No voilence means ... Do nothing...Talk... and Watch other...

How could be possible for new change?

Is it practical... Is it reality.... Is there any historical records...

There is nothing...

I agree but some critics from my view

Date Wednesday, February 6th 2008, 9:16 PM

I agree but some critics from my view...

Word "NON VIOLENCE & PEACE" is only a sweet Ladoo of dream. It is not really practical in real life.

Stand up, Fight for your Rights, Fights for Democracy, Struggle for Liberty, Revolution for change, Battle-war for victory....

These all things "Result" happen and followed because its "Root causes" are (Racism, Discrimination, Un-equality, Suppression, Harassments, Monopoly, extreme-corruption & crimes) etc.

Luxury people say that Gandhi brought democracy with non-violence political policy. But you really dig deep into political history of India; you will find that it is false and impossible.

Before Gandhi establishes political Congress party, there were several Indian nationalist and revolutionary parties who were fighting against British with Arms to Arms. Example, Revolutionary Bhagat Singh and Subash Chandra Boss. Under these people leadership, million Indian revolutionaries gave their live to fight against British. At last, Gandhi became a national hero. Bhagat Singh and Subash Chandra Boss vanished in thin Air.

In Nepal 2007 B.S. same story, Ram Prasad Rai and Dr. K. I. Singh was an arms revolutionary commander of Nepal Mukti Morcha Army which was affiliated with Nepali Congress Party. They fight arms to arms with Rana Regimes in 2007 B.S. While Trihuvan, B.P koirala, Matrika Prasad Koirala and Girija Koirala was spending their luxury life at Luxury Manson in New Delhi, India. After Rana Regime gave up and these revolutionary people brought Freedom and Democracy in Nepal, All these Chuchey people flew to kathmandu and announce freedom from Nepal Radio. But Ram Prasad Rai and Dr. K. I. Singh was vanished physically in Nepal and historically in book.

Have you ever known this?

We must Wake up and re-evaluate our thought.

Appreciable and some more from my side too

Date Wednesday, February 6th 2008, 2:49 AM

These are the points that we have to note and I agree with you.
We have to implement these things no matter but we have lots of people in our own community who puts back in all these points. Alcohol is regarded as the sigh of Kirat still and I am very much obessed with it. Our community name always comes after or before it even though we are using less day by day. For education parents are also required to be aware. Only going ouside and sending money is not enough now take care and save family. The word "bahadur" and "Aati" is still in the ears of our people so they want to show they are real. We don not have to prove these give tags to us by beating, killing somebody or our own family member so mind it. Our mind does not work at all when it comes to study we always opt for the easy subject thus regarded; humanities, commerce, and try to get at least pass division what is this worth for? So we should focus on the core subjects such as economics, science-all, mathematics and technological subjects too. But after SLC our people satisfies with study. I ahve also seen that a Lahure father will buy a bike for his son if he passes the exam. But this in the ultimate goal..... we have to go ahead far ahead. This way lahure culture is damaging our society.
Why the sakela is for? It is not for just dance and having wild time. It has it's own meaning so we should not forget it's theme. How modern is our youths we can see there. And we are always in hurry to dance only without knowing that too.. What a shame ? What are we goign to say to others if they ask jsut dance......
Why can't we organize alcohol free sakela every year? Either it is in tudikhel or nakhipot why do we have to see people drinking and eating only? Can't that be managed well as kept as food stall in attrictive way? So that we can show our culture as well as food diversity to other people who don't know about us.
Why we are considering at top by ourself? I don't know about others but among Kirat Rai's there is a kind of animous feelign betwee them in considering themshelves at top level. Why this is needed at least we are Kirats so we have to work hand in hand to gain unity. Because of lack of this from our own district where there is our majority why the Khas are being nominated as member of parliament? Isn't it a pity thing?
Why our leaders are also not learning any sense? Why they are behind Khas ? they have to unite now and work together to achieve a goal.
We have to try for the reservation quotas through our social organizations as well.
Have you seen in TV these days most of the exposed are our community girls in the name of dance and songs and we are enjoying that too. Even the renowned artists of our community are in exposure. Don't they mind about their family while earning money in such a way? So please mind that too.
We have to learn how to speak too. We have our own language but modern days youths don't know that and they are completely into slang so have to do proper work in that area too.
Our youths are completely into drugs. One can go to those areas where the lahures community live and see what their sons and daughter are doing? We can get the answer.
Lastly we have to advertise this social site , we have to ask lots of our youths to come into discussion which will help them as well.

It should be applied in our practice

Date Tuesday, February 5th 2008, 3:03 PM

Universal norms. It is so hard to apply in practice; we must begin to applyt by ourseleves among the members of family to society. I am agree. The word Janajaati is questionable. Our ancestors did not create this for our identity.
