Title: New Madhesi Political Alliance

New Madhesi Political Alliance likely today:-

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, Feb 9 - Three major agitating Madhesi parties have agreed to form a joint front to launch an effective movement in the tarai, a senior Madhesi leader said.
"Sadbhavana Party, Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party and Madhesi People's Rights Forum have agreed in principle to form an alliance," said Anil Jha, general secretary of Sadbhavana Party (SP).

He said Sadbhavana Party, Tarai Madhes Democratic party and Madhesi People's Rights Forum are busy finalizing the agreement and a formal announcement of the front is likely by Saturday. "Only some technical aspects of the agreement are to

be finalized now," he said. The front will be called "United Madhesi Democratic Front", a leader of TMDP told the Post.

According to the leader, the parties have agreed to rearrange their demands into six points and exert collective pressure on the government to fulfill the demands. "We still hope that we will be able to achieve desired success whether we fight for the Madhesi cause at the negotiating table or on the street," the leader said.

He also claimed that the Front would represent the authentic voice of the Madhesi people even if it sits for talks with the government and holds the capacity to enforce agreements.

Two of the parties, SP and MPRF, already have an alliance called United Madhesi Front. They claim the Front will be stronger once Mahantha Thakur-led TMDP joins the alliance.

Our kirat problems

Date Sunday, February 17th 2008, 3:26 PM

Our kirat Problems...

Key problems are....

(1) Our majority kirat people (above average kirat population) more than 79% are still under illiterate people. That means they can read and write properly. 14% may have high school education and then drop out for kully works. 4% has got graduate level education but not quality education (confuse degree) and master 2% degree level educations and busy in work in and out of countries and 1% got PhD but hardly around in country. We need highly educated people who can fully well aware in our social and political problems as well as who can unite and lead our kirat communities.
(2) When we are behind in education and awareness in social and political sectors. Then we (ourselves) get into troubles like (very slow understanding capacity, most of the time never get clues, act stupid and selfish, lazy and look easy money, No can do attitude, poor vision for futue, less working sprit toward kirat upliftment, no value of unity and identity, do not know what to do, short temper, not wise, behave and act wrong).

That is the main root cause that we are having problem.

Three Madhesi parties form new alliance

Date Saturday, February 9th 2008, 1:13 PM

Three Madhesi parties form new alliance; announce stir:-

Three Madhesi parties today formed a new alliance, United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), and announced a protest movement.

(From left) Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (TMLP) leader Hridayesh Tripathi,...
Organising a press conference in Kathmandu, leaders of three agitating regional parties – Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), Terai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (TMLP) and Sadbhawana Party (SP) – said they had joined forces to take the movement of Madhesi people to a decisive stage.

The UDMF has put forth six demands, which include guarantee of an autonomous Terai state with right to self-determination, and proportional representation of Madhesis, Janajatis, Dalits and other marginalised groups in state organs including the Nepal Army.

The Front has planned protest rallies across Terai on February 11 and 12 while an indefinite strike will be imposed from February 13 throughout the country followed by a shutdown strike in government offices on February 16 and blockade and non-cooperation protest from the next day.

Addressing the press conference, TMLP chairman Mahantha Thakur said the Madhesi parties were ready for dialogue with the government over their demands even when the agitations would go on.

He also said the government must address the issues raised by Madhesi people if it expects them to take part in the constituent assembly election. nepalnews.com mk Feb 09 08
