Title: King & Royal families will be removed by Rupublic Nepal

Prachanda ready to talk to King for 'graceful removal of monarchy':-

Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that in order to implement republic and to bring about graceful removal of monarchy, he is ready to talk to King Gyanendra, reports Kantipur daily.

Prachanda informed that he has started initiatives by talking with other political parties and diplomatic missions.

"The King will not be removed forcefully or dishonourably," Prachanda said, adding, "We have started talks with people close to the King."

Incidentally, Prachanda and senior Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai had met with Kamal Thapa, president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP-Nepal) - a pro monarchy party - on Friday.

Prachanda also said that if the King accepts the people's mandate, he will not face any action for past activities and could engage in normal business or even politics.

The Maoists appear aware about the wrong message any forceful eviction of monarchy could send inside and outside the country.

"We can present another surprise to the world by holding talk with (the King) about removal. If needed, I myself am willing to hold formal talks with him," Prachanda told Kantipur. nepalnews.com sd Apr 19 08 ...

INDIA dismisses reports of king’s request

Date Sunday, April 20th 2008, 12:44 PM

Indian Foreign Minister dismisses reports of king’s request for political asylum:-

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, April 19 - Indian Minister for Foreign Affairs Pranav Mukherjee Saturday confirmed that King Gyanendra has not made an official request for political asylum to the Indian Government.
His remarks come amidst reports from the Indian press that the King had requested the Indian Government for political asylum through various contacts.

Speaking to the press, Mukherjee dismissed the reports and claimed that he was unaware of any such requests from the Nepali King.

The press across the border published reports of the King’s request for political asylum after the Maoist leadership, certain to lead the next government, requested the king to vacate the Narayanhiti palace.

Meanwhile, major Indian political party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed the transition of Nepal from monarchy to a federal republic and expressed trust that ‘New Nepal’ will not be ‘anti-Hindu’ and ‘anti-India’.
