Title: Turn Nepal into a Hindu state: WHF

Turn Nepal into a Hindu state: WHF

The participants of the 20th World Hindu Federation (WHF) conference being held in northern India has emphasized the need for making Nepal a Hindu state, state-owned National News Agency reported.

Arguing that the emergence of Maoists in Nepal is dangerous for the country's "stability and integrity", they said that the interim government doesn't have any authority to declare Nepal a secular nation.

Speakers addressing the inauguration ceremony of the conference that kicked off in Balrampur of Uttar Pradesh state of India from Saturday also stressed on the need to turn Nepal into a "Hindu nation" again to resolve the difficult situation here. They also called on all Hindus to unite to "protect the Hindu religion and culture".

Addressing the conference, President of World Hindu Council Ashok Singhal said that concerted efforts are on to "humiliate the Hindu society" and said that its burning example can be seen nowhere else than in Nepal.

"The interim government declaring Hindu Kingdom of Nepal a secular country is a deliberate attempt to destroy our religion and culture," he said, adding that if Nepal ceases to remain a Hindu nation, then even its existence would fall in jeopardy.

Bharat Keshari Singh, chairman of the federation's international committee and an honorary royal ADC, said that the federation is faced with a huge challenge because of the political transition in Nepal. Wishing all a success to WHF's general conference, Singh also read out the message sent by King Gyanendra on the occasion.

Dr Subramaniam Swami, former union minister of India, said that the emergence of CPN-Maoist in Nepal has also posed a direct threat to India's internal security. nepalnews.com ag Apr 27 08 ...
