EC validates PR list by Anandi Devi

The Election Commission (EC) has validated the list of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandi Devi) submitted by party president Anandi Devi Singh on Wednesday.

The commission rejected the list sent by Minister for Industries, Commerce and Supplies Shyam Sundar Gupta.

As two separate lists were submitted to the commission, EC had asked both the sides to come up with valid documents to prove their claims.

Anandi Devi faction had submitted the names of Sarita Giri and Motilal Dugar. Gupta submitted the names of his son Rakesh Kumar Gupta and Manju Devi Mandal.

In the meantime, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) has proposed Arabinda Sah in place of Dr Bijay Kumar Singh after EC nullified name of Singh.

NSP-A demands resignation of 'corrupt' Minister Gupta

A disgruntled group inside the Nepal Sadbhawana Party-Anandidevi has demanded that Minister for Industries, Commerce and Supplies Shyam Sundar Gupta be immediately removed from his post.

Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu Thursday, Khushi Lal Mandal, the senior vice-chairman of NSP-A has accused Minister Gupta, who also holds the same post inside the party, of "abducting" party chairperson Anandi Devi Singh and has asked the Prime Minister not to tolerate him in the post even for a minute.

"An immoral, criminal person shouldn't be allowed to continue in the post," Mandal said.

Mandal said that although Prime Minister Koirala had assured that everything would be done to find Singh, the wife of late former chairman of NSP Gajendra Narayan Singh, nothing has been done towards that end. He said that he has been greatly distressed by this.

Yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) had recognized the list of winning candidates for proportional representation (PR) system submitted by the party Chairperson Anandi Devi Singh and rejected the list proposed by a group of the same party led by Minister Gupta.
