Title: Girija is root problem of Nepal

"Girija is the root problem of Nepal"

We won't accept Koirala as President: Maoist leader:-

A Maoist leader has said his party will not accept Girija Prasad Koirala as the first president of republican Nepal.

"CPN-Maoist is not going accept Girija Prasad Koirala as the president," Hari Bhakta Kandel 'Pratik', a central Maoist leader, who also heads the party's Bhojpura Sub-State Committee, said at the Reporters Club Friday.

The Maoist leader's remark comes at a time when some NC leaders are believed to have sent feelers to the Maoist leadership that Koirala be given the first presidency. However, no NC leader has publicly spoken of this option.

In today's six-party meeting, Maoist chairman Prachanda reportedly 'requested' Koirala to take the guardianship of the ruling alliance, clearly suggesting that the octogenarian leader stay out of the corridors of power, but assume a "respectable position" in the alliance.

During a recent meeting of the NC central working committee, some leaders had asked Koirala not to step down as Prime Minister, as the Maoists would require two-thirds majority on their side to claim government's leadership.

Koirala to be active in politics again

Date Saturday, May 10th 2008, 7:20 PM

Koirala to be active in politics again: " Waiting for natural death "

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, who had announced to retire from politics after the constituent assembly elections, revised his stand to remain active in the field.

During his meeting with party members elected to the CA and presidents of the district committees on Thursday, Koirala said he would remain active in politics all through his life.

His interest for being active in politics came following the shocked defeat of the party in the CA polls.

Koirala admitted that his failure on being active in the party and electioneering and ineffective leadership of the new generation led to electoral defeat.

He said the current central committee will be dismissed immediately to form a new one. nepalnews.com ia May 09 08

Maoists indirectly call for PM's resignation

Date Friday, May 9th 2008, 9:43 PM

Maoists indirectly call for PM's resignation:

KATHMANDU, May 10 - Maoist chairman Prachanda indirectly called for the prime minister's resignation to pave the way for the Maoists to start formal consultations to form a new government.
Without using the term "resignation", Prachanda raised the question of whether or not one can take the present government as a "caretaker" one especially after the Election Commission announced completion of the election process.

But NWPP Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe suggested the meeting not get involved in interpreting the term "caretaker" on the eve of forming a new government.

CP Mainali of United Left Front said as it was a government formed in special circumstances there was no point in using the term "caretaker".
