KATHMANDU, May 17 - Ongoing talks between three major political parties--Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist--- and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) resumed in the capital Saturday to discuss the appropriate representation of the indigenous nationalities in the Constituent Assembly (CA).

The parties and the NEFIN discussed on the ways to include the left out indigenous nationalities in the CA during the nearly two-hour long dialogue held at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction within the premises of Singhadurbar today.

Peace Minister Ram Chandra Poudel informed that the dialogue is yet to yield any conclusion although basic agreements have been reached.

The NC, UML and the Maoist representatives in the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) taskforce for the first CA sitting and the NEFIN representatives participated in the talks today.

Friday’s talks had failed to reach a conclusion over the issue of including the representatives of 22 nationalities and marginalized castes in the CA.

The NEFIN has demanded the nominations of the 26 members for CA be carried out taking note of the agreement forged in the past, NEFIN Chairman Pasang Sherpa informed.

About quota system

The quota system can be benificial to janjatis as well as harmful. At the moment we see it as a benificial act but it's policy needs to be updated to keep in track with the development of janjatis otherwise those who ahave acces to that quota will only get the advantage and enjoy the full facility. So for the sake of every janajati involvement there should be something more than quota only...

Janajatis demand 16 seats:-

The Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation (NFIN) has demanded 16 seats for Janajati candidates when the government nominates 26 Constituent Assembly (CA) members.

The demands were made at a meeting between NFIN representatives and Ministers and leaders of political parties.

“At the discussion, there were proposals that 16 seats be allocated for intellectuals and members of civil society and 10 for Janajatis. We demanded that the seat allocation be reversed to provide 16 seats for Janajatis and 10 for others,” said Pasang Sherpa, president of NFIN.

He said that the seven parties have agreed to consider their demands through internal consultations.

The government needs to nominate 26 CA members to take the total number of CA members to 601 – 575 have already been elected through direct and proportional representation based election.

Reserve Quota for Education & Education Scholarships for higer educations.

Then only .... we can secure our social Life from Devil, Criminal, Corrupted and Crooks, Untrusworthy, Evil minded Chuchey Chettris and Bahuns Regimes..

Otherwise they will talk sweet and show us false dreams and promises and trick to us... whatsoever.. we will be supressed and Left behind again...
