Chairman of Terai Madhesh Loktrantrik Party (TMLP), Mahantha Thakur, has said his party accepts Ram Raja Prasad Singh as the presidential candidate.
Talking to reporters in Mahottarai Thursday, Thakur said while the Maoists have already proposed Singh as the prospective presidential candidate the TMLP would back him for the top post.
Whether the TMLP will join the government or not will depend on how major parties deal with the agendas of Madhesh, he said, adding that and parties also need to show clear commitment to implement the agreements signed with Madhesi parties in the past.
Takur also said that the government should take initiation towards brining the armed Terai groups to the negotiating table to resolve the tension amicably.

काठमाडौं, असार ४ - राष्ट्रपतिमा प्रधानमन्त्री गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालाको विकल्प खोज्न माओवादी र एमाले सहमत भएका छन् ।
राष्ट्रपति पद कांग्रेस सभापति तथा प्रधानमन्त्री कोइरालाको विकल्पमा अर्को व्यक्ति संयुक्तरूपमा प्रस्तुत गर्ने सहमति भएको जानकारी उच्च स्रोतले दिएका छन् ।
माओवादीसित सोमबार भएको द्विपक्षीय बैठकमा एमाले महासचिव झलनाथ खनालले आफ्ना पर्ूवमहासचिव माधवकुमार नेपाललाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउन प्रस्ताव गरेका थिए ।
यसअघि कांग्रेस र एमालेका नेतालाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउन हुन्न भन्दै आएको माओवादीले बुधबार तीन दलको बैठकमा कोइरालाको मात्र नाम लिएर उनलाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउन नहुने अडान राखेको
थियो । अघिल्लो दिनमात्र नेपाल जनवादी मोर्चाका रामराजाप्रसाद सिंहको नाम प्रस्ताव गरेको माओवादीले यसअघि एमाले नेतृ सहाना प्रधानलाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउन सकिने विचार राखेको थियो ।

माओवादीले कोइरालालाई स्वीकार गर्दैन भने आफ्नो पार्टर्ीी प्रस्ताव गरेका नेपाललाई तीनै दलले स्वीकार गर्नुपर्ने एमाले नेताहरूले बताएका छन् । 'माओवादीले गिरिजाबाबुलाई मान्दै मान्दैन भने राष्ट्रपतिमा एमालेको दाबी हुन्छ,' नेता नेपालले बुधबार राति कान्तिपुरसित भने ।
प्रमुख तीन दलबीच शक्ति बा“डफा“डबारे बिहीबार बिहान पुनः बालुवाटारमा छलफल हु“दैन । बुधबार दर्ुइ चरणमा भएका छलफलमा माओवादी, कांग्रेस र एमालेबीच अन्तरिम संविधान संशोधन तथा शान्ति प्रक्रियास“ग सम्बन्धित अधिकांश मुद्दामा सहमति भएको नेताहरूले जानकारी दिएका छन् ।
दलका शर्ीष्ा नेताहरूको राष्ट्रपति पदमा विवाद भएपछि शक्ति बा“डफा“ड र सत्ता साझेदारीबारे छलफल अघि बढ्न सकेन । उनीहरूले राष्ट्रपति र प्रधानमन्त्रीको चयन र निष्कासन साधारण बहुमतबाट गर्ने, संवैधानिक परिषद्मा विपक्षी दललाई राख्नेलगायतमा सहमति भएको छ ।
सुरक्षा परिषद्मा मन्त्रिपरिषद्मा रहेका दलका प्रतिनिधि र विपक्षी दलका नेता राख्नुपर्ने कांग्रेसले राखेको अडानमा भने ती दलबीच सहमति हुन बा“की छ ।
संविधान संशोधनका धेरैजसो सवालमा सहमति भएपछि ती दलबीच शुक्रबार व्यवस्थापिका संसद्मा सरकारले प्रस्ताव लाने सहमति भएको छ ।
ती दलको कार्यदलले संविधान संशोधन र शान्ति प्रक्रिय सम्बन्ध ा सहमतिको प्रस्ताव तयार गरी बिहीबार नौ बजे बस्ने शर्ीष्ा नेताको बैठकमा राख्नेछ । त्यसबारे छलफल गर्न अपराह्न सात दलको बैठक बोलाइएको छ ।

New President of Nepal must be Good Clean Nepali.
Indian dhoti 2nd class citizen must not be a Nepali President. If we put any dhoti in key Leadership role... we will jeopardize our national security and sovereignty of Nepal. It is too danger.

Maoists to be rigid on their stance; no to Koirala as president
In the eyeball to eyeball political situation between the Maoists and Nepali Congress (NC), the Maoists have decided they won't be the one to blink first.
The meeting of the central secretariat of the Maoists, Tuesday morning, authorised the party leadership not to back down from their currently-held positions on disputed issues like the choice of president; power-sharing; army integration and so on.
"We have become flexible to the maximum. Now it is the turn of Nepali Congress to show flexibility," said senior Maoist leader Mohan Baidya Kiran.
He said that the party has also decided not to support the calls to make prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala as the president. The party will, instead, back Ramraja Prasad Singh for the position.
The central secretariat also decided that the party's ministers should resign from their positions if no understanding is reached by Tuesday evening.
A crucial meeting of top leaders of the three parties – Maoists, NC and UML – is going to take place in the afternoon in an attempt to reach the eleventh hour understanding. Earlier the parties had promised to end the deadlock before Wednesday when the fourth meeting of Constituent Assembly (CA) is taking place.

Nepali President through consensus: Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, June 13 - Senior CPN-Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday said his party was not favor any particular individual for the post of president and opined that the matter should be decided through consensus.
Asked at a press conference if his party would accept Koirala as president, Bhattarai said, "The Maoists are not favoring anyone for next president. It will be decided through consensus among all political parties."
He also stressed the need for consensus. "There is no alternative to consensual politics in the current situation", Dr Bhattarai told journalists at Reporters Club Nepal.
He also said that he was confident of a consensus being reached very soon.
Refering to a meeting between his party's chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala this morning, Dr Bhattarai said, "Koirala also stressed that consensus is inevitable to find a political way out of the current stalemate."
He said Maoist chairman Dahal, during the meeting, urged PM Koirala to take initiative in finding a consensus soon on formation of the next government. "We found Koirala very much positive and he said he would not obstruct formation of the next government," Bhattarai said.
During the meeting, the two sides also reached understanding that the new government should be formed by June 18, the day when the constituent assembly reconvenes.
Bhattarai sounded unusually soft on Koirala and praised his role in signing the historic 12-point agreement and in brining the peace process to this point.
