Gachhadar becomes the parliamentary party leader of MJF
Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has been elected, unanimously, as the leader of the parliamentary party of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) at the Constituent Assembly (CA).
Gachhadar, who had deserted Nepali Congress (NC) to join MJF just before the April election, was elected to the top position sidelining other senior leaders.
In fact, the MJF coordinator Upendra Yadav proposed his name and co-coordinator JP Gupta seconded him for the position.
The position of parliamentary party leader is an influential one, particularly of a party, which is the fourth largest party at the CA.
His election is also an interesting development as it comes amid increasing opposition by Tharu community against one Madhes one Province spearheaded by MJF. Gachhadar himself comes from Tharu community. He had won from two constituencies at the CA election.
Meanwhile, Chandrika Prasad Yadav and Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav have been elected as chief whip and secretary of the MJF parliamentary party, respectively.
Likewise, Dr. Tilak Rawal, Renu Yadav, Wakil Ahmad, Kalawati Paswan, Ramananda Mandal, Pramod Gupta, Nilam Barma and Ramjanam Chaudhary have been elected as members of the parliamentary party working committee.

Madhesi parties to boycott Sunday's CA meeting
Madhesi parties have decided to boycott Sunday's Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting, which is take up the constitution amendment bill tabled by the government.
This was revealed today by Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar, the leader of Madhesi Jajadhikar Forum (MJF) in the CA. Along with MJF, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Sadbhawana Party and three other Terai-centric parties would not participate in the CA debate on the amendment bill, he said.
Gachhedar, who was elected the parliamentary leader of MJF on Friday, also revealed that the Madhesi parties had now given up the 'one Madhes' demand, but they would not go back on the demand for 'autonomous Madhesh province'.
He also claimed that the Madhesi parties had not raised any new issue other than what was agreed between the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front, an alliance of Madhesi parties waging an agitation then, in February this year.
Saying that the Maoists, as the largest party, have the right to lead the next government, Gachhedar made it known that MJF would not join the government.
