Title: Madhesi Armed groups alliance with Bihar India

Armed Terai groups meet in India';s Bihar to discuss possible alliance:-

Leaders of over a dozen armed outfits operating in the Terai plains have met in the bordering Indian state of Bihar in a bid to forge an alliance which, if materialised, might spell intensification of violence in the region.

According to Naya Patrika daily, leaders of 14 armed groups including Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) of Jaya Krishna Goit, Madhesi Tigers, Terai Madhesh Mukti Tigers, Terai Liberation Force and Terai Cobra are participating in the meeting that began from Friday evening. The meeting was finalised after a long homework.

However, JTMM';s breakaway faction, which is led by Jwala Singh and goes by the same name, is not participating in the meeting.

The daily quoted JTMM general secretary Bibas Bidhrohi as claiming that the 14 armed groups would try to unite under a single organisation. Their aim is to form a strong organisation under the leadership of Goit and intensify their activities in Terai.

One Chandrashekhar, who heads the ';unification coordination committee';, said the 14 organisations would try to reach a decision on unification within five days.

The meeting of underground Terai groups comes at a time when the ministers of the new cabinet have repeatedly said that the government is ready to negotiate with them if they shun violence.

Terai groups spurn Goit, Jwala as chief:-

Kantipur Report

DHARAN, Sept 29 - A meeting of 14 armed Terai groups being held in India to forge working unity, has refused to nominate both Jaya Krishna Goit and Jwala Singh as their supreme leader.
Sources said Goit, the chief of Akhil Terai Mukti Morcha (ATMM), along with his bodyguard Kranti, walked out from the meeting held at an undisclosed location in Katihar of Bihar Saturday after top leaders of nine armed groups made their stance clear.

Bibas Bidrohi, spokesperson of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh (JTMM-J), said top leaders of all armed Terai groups are participating in the meeting, with the exception of JTMM-J Chairman Jwala Singh.

He said representatives of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha, Madhesi Tigers, Terai-Madhes Mukti Tigers, Terai Cobra, Terai Liberation Force, Madhesi Virus Killers, and some dissident leaders of ATMM, among others, are participating in the meeting, which has been on since the last three days.

ATMM General Secretary Chandra Shekhar said they would not make Goit and Jwala Singh their supreme leaders as both were involved in exploiting their cadres in the past. He said the meeting is likely to nominate Bibas Bidrohi as supreme leader of the armed groups.

Meanwhile, ATMM members have defected from the group for the third time, announcing suspension of the group';s chief Jaya Krishna Goit. An ATMM meeting held Saturday in Sitamadi, India, claimed it had dismissed Goit even from ordinary membership of the group.

A letter faxed from Sitamadi said they have also announced Ram Bilas Yadav aka Prateek as the new chief the group. Prateek is a former lecturer at Siraha Multiple Campus.

Earlier, Jwala Singh had quit Goit';s group and formed JTMM-J.
