We must thank Sen Kings who gave this title,ministerial posts and autonomy to our fore fathers.In old Nepali Rai means King(Nepali brihat sabda kosh by Bal krishna Pokhrel).Look at the shila-Lekhs found in Karnali region,kings there were addressed as Rais(please read Yogi narahari nath's Karnali ko itihas).We must be proud of this title,which became our surnamewith time.

This name united many small tribes and gave us all an identity.We have produced 2 acting Prime ministers,a Chancellor of royal Academy,several cabinet ministers,Generals,writers,artists,Ved and military science specialists,world class doctors,scientists etc.Our loyalty has been demonstrated not only in the british and indian armies,but in our own motherland as well,e.g. everybody surrendered but Thule Rai did not.SSP Durja kumar Rai was never against people, but doing his duty with loyalty.Many have died for revolution as well Ratna Bantawa etc.

We should be proud as Nepali Rai kirat.Long live Nepal and Nepalis.Long live our people and identity.

How is this Stupid and wants to remove "Rai" from their last name?

Rai is a symbol of the greatest Unity among kirat.

Please do your study, research and home work before Speaking STUPIDITY, THINKING STUPIDITY, and BELIEVING STUPIDITY and taking any STUPIDIDTY Actions?

Use at least minimum common senses.

but there are some rais who dont claim they belong to rai group. how abt them and why they dont want to be included?...well no matter how much we argue but rai is not a cast in itself its just a title given to some people in the past and it became an identity now.

This is just discussion...the way to find a good idea...logically...current time, it is the most contorvesial issue of the Rais...I do not have any different idea than you all...we must think if we are making some significant decision regarding of our identity.

Mr Akash, you indeed come up with a great topic to discus on but probably your approach was wrong. I can sense that the word rai gradually is been eroded and let me tell you my idea and views. Kirati's are doing it for nothing but one reasons as below:

1. To prove themselves superiors.

They read the same history about kirati which poeple like you and me have excavated. If they find their surnames like bantawa doing something good or noteable people they are proud to be called as bantawa.

I tell you the moment Mr. Pawan Kumar Chamling became our Chief Minister of Sikkim, almost 60% of Rai started writing their surname as Chamling and not Rai. They dont have to prove anything for that. they did that so as to get good jobs in government offices. Isnt that funny?

Well for me I am a Muksu Rai ( Dont know if you have heard about it)
