We must build a Gurkha Memorial in Nepal

Date Tuesday, January 16th 2007, 12:10 AM Icon 51 Date 4

We must build a Gurkha Memorial in Nepal. Why?

Rai, Limbu, Gurung, Magar, Tamang must build a Gurkha war memorial place. Those are our Ancestor, Great Great grandfather, forefathers those who gave their life and save this world from the evil empire, destruction and save our future. So today we all enjoy with our life. Their history is our national pride. Nepal is a tiny country but brave Gurkha people are known by world. We have to protect, preserve and promote their history.

In the word of British Officer's book.

" Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous, never had
country more faithful friends than you. "

Those words, written by Sir Ralph Turner, a former officer in the 3rd Gurkha Rifles.

agree dude

i always used to think about that, glad that there r many people with same thinkings. gurkhas even though fought for other imperials but the contribution for the nation is huge. remittance is second highest, thier skills, knowledge and expereince are precious for uplifting and modernising the society eg, dharan. n they always represented the country ie, NEPAL. yeah our stupid bahunbaad, khas chauvinist gov would never do taht casue gurkhas r mostly from rai, limbu, grg, magar, sunuwar n other janjati pop. n thier income n pensions r higher than that of prime minister, huge amount of jelousy from gov again. ranas made massive palaces, bought ornaments n spent heavily, major source gurkhas, 1 gurkhas equal to 5 pound in first n second world war including yearly royalties. n the respect equal to zero, even wouldn't voice up againts the unfair treatment to gurkhas by britain.

so yeah, we the kins of gurkhas, currently in service gurkhas n ex- gurkhas gotta establish a memorial n once a year organize a rally to honour all those who lost thier lives in action. this would also give an opportunity to ex-gurkhas to meet thier old comrades who fought as brothers in arms. the venue could be either dharan, pokhara or ktm. or organize in all differnt places simultaneously. and then ending up in small function....

Burma War memorial

Date Friday, January 26th 2007, 2:04 AM

Burma War memorial:

A granite plinth displaying the Kohima Epitaph has been erected within the memorial.

It reads:

"When you go home tell them of us and say for your tomorrow we gave our today".

In 1943, the South East Asia Command was formed under Lord Louis Mountbatten.

The men, forming the largest Commonwealth army ever assembled, fought some of the fiercest battles of World War II in order to prevent Japanese expansion.

They were dubbed the Forgotten Army because the soldiers believed their hard-won campaign was ignored at home.

Kirat people must take Responsibility and

Date Tuesday, January 23rd 2007, 7:35 PM

Kirat people must take Responsibility and Accountability.

Yes, other people or other Nepalese do not care about it. Because they do not have any VALUE and IMPORTANCE of these matters.

But it is very important for national symbol, respect and remember our ancester who gave their life and save our country.

Nepali government must be contribute on it.
British government must be contribute on it.
All Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Tamang, Sherpa ... all neptey must conribute and take initiate on it.

We have to do it. We have to make it happen.

All Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Tamang need

Date Tuesday, January 16th 2007, 12:24 AM

All Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Tamang need to Unite for work

I guess that only one person can not make contribution for Gurkha memorial place. There is lots of time contribution, work and financial matters. For these work, all Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Tamang must to join for work and contribution.

I do not believe that other Nepalese people or Nepali government or political parties have any interest on it. Maybe they wise to forget Gurkha and their sacrifices.

Yes, we must preserve Gurkha history, protect and promote as well as respect by remembering their sacrifices to this world. In the simple term, if there were No Gurkha in history, Nepal will not exist now.

All kirat organization, Ex-gurkha army organization and we (their offspring) must join in this work. For that mass awareness, education and communication must be organized by kirat organization as well as ex-gurkha army organization.
